C.O.P.E. (Coaches and Officials Positive Expectations)

Ok so if your not a coach then COPE means nothing much to you. But as coaches we are REQUIRED to listen to a presentation talking about how we as coaches should handle conflicts between us and refs in our sporting events. I used to be a referee many years ago and I know it's not very easy. So I can say that all-in-all like many of my fellow coaches I respect them and what they do. I've sat and listened to this COPE presentation for a few years now and many things cross my mind during it, here are a few:

Im sitting again listening to COPE
What does the state think, that I'm a dope
Lets cut through the BS today
"hey Coach" don't yell at the ref because your kids don't know how to play
Instead here are some pointers for you and your staff
Try and remember them before saying "hey zebra...KISS MY ASS"
Tips and techniques we are spoon fed to be nicer
But who's cutting us these refs as if they used a meat market slicer
We do what we do because we love it
But most of the time the refs act as if they don't really give a flip
So I wonder if we are to work together, why does "HE" get all the power
Dictating many outcomes with is fox 40 as if on some zebra tower
We may get our shots in and disagree with his call
But it's those kids that just got shafted again from another chance with the ball
This is our life and we love what we do
Yet some seasons the refs decided our fate, and for us the crowd begins to boo
So no matter how many warnings or T's we get I'm still gonna argue some calls
Especially when I get that look from Mr. Zebra, you know the one..........
"go ahead coach say that again IF YOU GOT THE BALLS"
